MOBILE APPLICATION
Event Application Pitch / Prototypes
YEAR:
2018 - 2019
LOCATION:
Washington, D.C.
Overview
Solving the initial problem:
“Finding a specific event at a particular time and location is a challenge for people seeking entertainment because it is time consuming, complicated, and tedious”
CanWeGo app was proposed to several startup companies and investors. The ideas was to create an event mobile app that is powerful, user-centric digital tool designed to enhance every aspect of the attendee experience before, during, and after an event. It serves as a central hub where participants can access real-time schedules, speaker bios, venue maps, exhibitor information, and session details—all from the convenience of their smartphone. The app enables seamless communication between organizers and attendees through push notifications, personalized agendas, and instant updates. Built-in features such as interactive floor plans, networking chat, live polling, Q&A, and gamification encourage engagement and create a dynamic, connected environment. For event organizers, the app also provides valuable insights through attendee analytics and feedback tools, helping to measure success and continuously improve future events. Whether it’s a conference, trade show, festival, or corporate meeting, an event mobile app transforms traditional experiences into modern, interactive journeys.
The Idea
Primary Functions:
- Sharing events on other social media apps
- Syncing events with the user’s calendar
- Receiving notifications
- Posting and uploading event photos
- Suggesting events to user’s preferences
- Previewing ratings/feedbacks of events
- Linking to specific venue websites for ticketing and purchasing
- Get directions to session rooms, booths, or meeting points
- Navigate multi-floor or multi-venue layouts
- Stay informed on-the-go without checking emails or websites
- View attendee profiles and connect with others based on interests or roles
- Use in-app messaging to schedule meetings or chat with peers
- Participate in real-time polls and surveys during sessions
- Submit questions to speakers or panels directly through the app
User Experience / The Research
The CanWeGo app’s UX design is all about creating products that are usable, useful, and enjoyable for real users. Research helps designers understand:
-
User behaviors (what people do)
-
User needs and goals (what people want to achieve)
-
Pain points and frustrations (what’s not working for them)
-
Context of use (where, when, and how users interact with the product)
Types of Research
User Research
- Interviews, surveys, and field studies to learn about user needs.
- Personas and user journeys to map user motivations and workflows.
Usability Testing
- Testing prototypes or existing products with users to identify friction points.
Competitive and Market Research
- Analyzing competitors to identify gaps and opportunities.
Analytics and Behavioral Data
- Using tools like Google Analytics, Hotjar, or Mixpanel to track user behavior.
Accessibility Research
- Ensuring inclusive design by studying how people with disabilities interact with products.
How It Feeds the Design Process
Research informs:
Information architecture, Wireframes and prototypes, Visual design, Interaction flows, Content strategy
